After several months of working remotely, the SIMshore partners finally met in person for an internal meeting held at the Portuguese Navy’s facilities in Azinheira, in April 2022.
The event started with a tour of the facilities, which included the Hydrographic Base where several test activities have been taking place. The Azinheira Hydrographic Base is ideal for these type of activities due to its large mapped area, which can be used to validate the SIMShore results. Unfortunately, the wind conditions made it impossible to perform flights during the event.
The team took the opportunity to discuss the most recent advancements made with the drone technology, including the modifications required to calibrate its various sensors. In addition, the team discussed the approach to archive the massive amounts of data that are being collected during the flights.
The SIMShore Campaigns will kick-off by Autumn, and the team is eager for the public demonstrations.
