A service for the operational update of nearshore bathymetry
Leveraging from innovative and cost effective methods for nearshore bathymetry extraction, SIMShore will rely on Satellite Derived Bathymetry (SDB) with the use of drones to achieve a better temporal resolution of the territory.
We recently completed a detailed study on bathymetry extraction through inversion of the wave field. Initial results showed limitations in deeper waters but revealed rip channels in shallow areas, highlighting the method’s promising potential. Currently, we are focused on refining this methodology and exploring new techniques to improve data accuracy and robustness.
SIMShore will offer an operational system covering the:
Upstream
Data acquisition
Midstream
Bathymetry extraction
Downstream
Product delivery
Bathymetry extraction in channels and adjacent offshore areas
Reliable depth mapping in navigation channels and adjacent off-shore areas to monitor navigation channels, ensure port operations and provide safe access to their facilities.
Bathymetry Extraction in Inland Water Bodies
Bathymetry extraction in large inland water bodies such as rivers, lagoons, lakes and reservoirs to monitor environmental changes and water resources.
Bathymetry and Topography Surveys in Coastal Areas
Bathymetry extraction to follow the evolution of the sedimentary and geomorphological dynamics of the coastal zone, correlate it with the oceanographic forcing, and assess the outcome of coastal protection interventions.
